Kestrel House School recently welcomed Wild Science for an engaging and sensory-rich workshop exploring the wonderful world of minibeasts, this terms topic.
The session was carefully adapted to meet the needs of our pupils, providing a calm, supportive environment where every learner could take part at their own pace. Through hands-on exploration, pupils discovered giant snails, cockroaches, snakes, lizards and rabbits.
With a strong focus on interactive and multi-sensory learning, pupils had opportunities to observe, gently handle, and closely examine a variety of minibeasts. Exploring small habitats such as ponds, forests, and gardens which helped bring learning to life, while encouraging curiosity, communication, and confidence.
The workshop supported key skills including turn-taking, descriptive language, questioning, and building independence. Most importantly, it fostered a sense of wonder and achievement, enabling our learners (and staff) to connect with nature in a meaningful and memorable way.
