Bring Your Parent/Carer to School Week

During Children’s Mental Health Week 2023, we decided to hold the first half of our Bring Your Parent/Carer to School Week here at Kestrel. This week allows for our parents and carers to join in on some of our classes and activities with their children and see how we run our day to day life with the learners. This week was obviously even more exciting due to all the activities we were holding for Children’s Mental Health Awareness. Our families were able to join in our Happy Brains Sing a Long sessions as well as the immersive dome and visiting animals. This is such a great experience for our parents and we love seeing the learners faces light up when their families walk in the room!

We take as much time as possible to prepare the learners for this experience as to avoid confusion when their parents or carers come into the space. Social stories are completed as well as reminders in the days leading up.

Our next week will be held in Summer Term, during our Science Week! We cant wait to see the rest of the families get involved in some whacky science experiments with their children.
