At Kestrel House School we aim to work within the frameworks of the Every Child Matters agenda and the National Curriculum with the core subjects (English, Maths, Science, ICT and PHSE/Citizenship) and subjects such as Geography, History, Music, PE, Art, Design Technology.
We aim to incorporate the National Literacy and National Numeracy Strategies into our teaching.
The First few Weeks at Kestrel House School
During the first few weeks in school, pupils undergo baseline assessments, providing us with details of their individual 'starting points'. Throughout the school year, our Team continually evaluates each pupil's work, establishes and updates targets and records their progress. Our curriculum recognises the importance of the 14-19 curriculum reforms and has a strong focus on vocational and community based activities. We also recognise that we are preparing our young people with a firm foundation for life beyond school and participation in broader life activities. The Eagle House Approach, which is used Group-wide, underpins the approach used by Kestrel House School.
