At Kestrel House School we value each pupil for their individuality. At Kestrel House we:
- Encourage pupils to achieve their own potential and to develop an intrinsic desire to learn and participate in school life
- Work together as one cohesive team in a supportive community; able to share successes and challenges for the ongoing development of the school
- Full integrate our speech and language curriculum into all areas of the school and throughout the school by, offering a communication centred approach which relates to naturally occurring communication situations
- Encourage our pupils to have fun, to be welcoming and supportive
- Provide a safe, secure and positive environment where development and progression are carefully and jointly planned within a multidisciplinary team consisting of; teachers, learning support assistants, parents/carers, educational psychologists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists. Interventions are implemented, monitored and evaluated in a cyclical process
- Are recognised as being a centre of expertise in the field of communication development and Autistic Spectrum Disorders
- Promote effective and supportive relationships with parents, carers, school staff and other professionals involved with our pupils. We work in partnership with all those involved with the child to ensure consistency. We provide, as needed, an ongoing education for parents and staff through workshops and training sessions.
- Provide a multidisciplinary approach where teaching, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and educational psychology input (as needed) is provided for every child in a seamless manner
- Use the 'Eagle House Approach' which is an eclectic approach which responds to the needs of the individual
- Use visual supports which respond to the individual needs of the pupils
