What Do You Do Next......
The Head teacher, with assistance from the multidisciplinary Team, has delegated responsibility for admissions to Kestrel House School. Referrals may also come from parents - especially for nursery aged pupils, or from the pupil's Local Authority.
The Admissions Process follows certain steps
- The Local Authority sends a copy of the proposed statement to Kestrel House School with supporting advice OR, for a nursery child, the parents approach the school and provide supporting information
- The Head teacher makes a preliminary decision on the basis of the information received from the local authority/parent
- If this information suggests that a placement would be appropriate then a home/school visit will be arranged. This will be undertaken by the Head teacher and/or a member of of the Senior Management Team/multi disciplinary Team
- The Head teacher informs the Eagle House Group and the Local Authority of their decision regarding the admission and the reasons for the decision
- When a place is offered, the Local Authority will inform the parents/carers. The school will then contact the child or young person's family and arrange a full visit to discuss needs and arrangements for admission
- For some nursery aged children where the parents are funding the placement, the parents will be informed by the Head teacher in writing
Placement will be agreed if:-
- the school can meet the pupil's needs
- there is a vacancy within the appropriate age group
- the placement is compatible to the interests of the pupils already in the class
- it constitutes an efficient use of available resources
If significant or challenging behaviour or significant difficulties are identified which may require additional support or resources there may be a need for additional placement costs. If this is the case, these will be calculated on an individual basis and details of which additional costs are to be added clearly set out and explained.
We will contact the pupil's family and discuss arrangements for admission
